MarloweDK Lesson on a T40. This Guy is good...

Post  Bo_H on Wed Jul 27, 2011 1:14 am

I'm not sure what forum to put this in so here goes...

I've subscribed to his channel. He has some great grooves and even has a video of him playing on stage with the great Larry Graham (using Larry's white bass). He's a great player. Hope you like...

been following this guy for quite some time now! he's given so many FREE lessons its unreal. you see the pickups on his T40 his have bits of metal in the middle of each black part on the pickup.......mine does not have this just 2 black blades in each pickup! are they the same pickups just dressed slightly different or different picks ups all together ? if so which ones are better out of the two? sorry probs a really noob question lol

Bassfreak,

If memory serves, the earlier T40's used no blades and have less treble response. The addition of blades added a little top end snap to the sound. Mine has blades as well.

Bo, thanks for posting this. Great trebly tone...very Rickenbacker-ish. No wonder they say T-40s are a poor man's Rickenbacker.

That reminds me, Scott. I talked to a guy at a shop here. He said I should take my T in and have the coil split feature routed through two switches. I'm thinking about it. I cut them last year to get full treble in humbucking mode but I sometimes miss having single coil operation.

love Marlowe DK, if you zoom in on his videos, the TC amp displays the notes ( E,A,D,G sharps & flats etc ), but they go by fast. by the way, I've tried all kinds of mods, a couple of years ago put it back stock & found that to be just fine

Hehe...I know what you mean about the mods. Peavey got it right the first time. At least that's been my experience with my bladed T.
