Scars - John Mackie
Hello from London, I am new to this forum, nice to see so many bass players who recognise a classic when they see one. You can keep your Fenders etc. My Black Ash/maple '79 T-40 is the best bass I ever used, bar none. It has toured the world, and cut tracks in some of Europe's finest recording studios. I always got good comments from studio engineers about the versatility and range of tone you can get with this instrument, and when mine is back next week (from setup & tech service) I will play no other. Heavy? ... yes .... indestructable? .... absolutely! AND a sustain to die for. Mine has few chips & dents, but that's okay I think for a working instrument.
I play bass for post-punk band Scars (recently reformed after many years) and am looking forward to using my T-40 in a couple of weeks for a live BBC radio session. Can't wait. I used a musicman for a comeback gig at HMV Edinburgh Picture House on Dec. 29th - it was okay, but it just didn't have the balls. (See- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SB2mhemS5uk )
