DIY Music Projects

Post  Stacatto on Tue Jan 04, 2011 1:40 pm

What are you working on at the moment?

I've got a couple of 'project' effects boxes to repair. And, there's minimal $ in each one, since they came to me as DOA. If the repairs are the cost of solder...I'll have about $35 total spent on everything, including both! Since both look well preserved on the boards-free of scratches or kicks on the outside, there's high hopes of getting them repaired.

1. Black Russian - Big Muff.
2. Green Russian - GGG/Kit version.

The Black Russian is this model:

Good luck with the repairs, hope it's only solder that would be great!

I love guitar projects. My next one is going to be getting a hold of a cheap Squier Bronco bass and installing a T-40 pickup in it. My wife got me an awesome Dremel tool for Christmas which will be great for routing.

I need to get my hands on a router to get two of my projects beyond the planning stages. And if I could find somebody locally to work on two of my stomp boxes that died...

I've been trading emails with him for a few days. He's having trouble finding the schematics for the two boxes I need repaired. Last I heard from him he was suggesting I move to one of his custom boxes.

That sounds about right. I can't fix yours so buy mine. I believe I'd look elsewhere. Good luck. Glenn

Yeah. But I'm doing okay without these two boxes. I don't need the distortion boxes near as much now that I have the Vypyr amp to play with.

Those vypyrs are nice little amps. Just about any sound you want.

I lucked into the 15-watt version rather cheap. I'm looking to upgrade to the 30-watt version now. I enjoy playing it. Not sure it would replace my Bandit for a live gig but it makes a great headphone amp for the house.

I used to have one of the 15s. Wish I still did sometimes. I put a set of those high dollar black beauties on the foundation 5, and immediatly proceeded to drop the dang thing. It busted the spot where the chord plugs into, sending the chord up inside of the thing. I finally fixed it with some parts off an old silvertone I picked up at a yard sale for three bucks a couple of years ago. I also replaced the nut on it because someone stripped the truss rod head up where I couldn't adjust it to get the strings up off the neck some. It plays pretty good now. Has a real good sound. I'm glad I picked it up. I have about $144.00 in it, including the strings.

Ouch! I'm glad you were able to do some repair to it.
