Bass Strings

Post  NGPeavey on Thu Nov 18, 2010 8:54 pm

I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on strings. I like a deep bassy (?) sound and have flatwounds on my T40. But they have kind of a flat sound. I like them and plan on keeping them on it, but would like to try something else on the Foundation. I don't like a twangy sound, and strings are to expensive to experiment much. Any ideas? Thanks, and I love this new forum.

I used to use Rotosound rounds but they were/are really hard on frets, and fingers for that matter and they're really high tension. The only rounds I ever use anymore are DR Black Beauties. The coating lasts a very long time, even if you're a pick player, they're nice and smooth feeling and have a great, warm sound. They actually handle drop tuning well too. I love 'em!

I wish I could offer some valid advice on strings, but I can't. Since I don't really know how to properly play my T-40 I had no idea what to put on her, so I opted for the cheapest strings that I could find. Shocked
